"Give me some music!" These words from Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, which open Cleopatra's Songs, seem particularly well chosen to characterize Agata Zubel's relationship to music. Music: a vital need, a thirst, but also something that you give. This portrait album with three major works, performed by leading ensembles, follows her receipt of the Erste Bank Kompositionspreis in 2018.
Tracks:
1.1 Agata Zubel; Klangforum Wien; Johannes Kalitzke - Cleopatra's Songs (2017) for voice and instrumental ensemble. Text by William Shakespeare
1.2 Ensemble intercontemporain; Guillaume Bourgogne - Double Battery (2016) for instrumental ensemble and augmented sound space
1.3 Katarzyna Duda; OMNO-Ensemble / Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej; Szymon Bywalec - Violin Concerto (2014) for violin and chamber orchestra
